Harvest Update 2022

The 2018 and 2019 versions of our Willamette Pinot Noir went head-to-head in a recent issue of Food and Wine magazine, and it was a tie: Both wines scored 93 points and won a place on their Top 50 US Pinots list. At the time we hadn’t yet released the 2019 on our website, but we’re delighted to show it to you now. The 2019 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir really shows off what we love about the vintage. Bright, complex fruit balanced with a forest floor kind of earth aroma and classic, tea-like tannins. Open a bottle of this, young or old, when you’re looking for an example of how elegant Pinot Noir can be.

We’re very excited about the 2019 Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir. This, like the 2018 before it, has been a favorite of the wine club. The dense red and black fruit is back, this time with a little wet stone earth, and maybe even more complex tannins! Still elegant, but with a little more muscle than the Willamette Valley. This can handle big, rich foods right now or age gracefully for well over a decade in your cellar.

We’ve also just released our 2019 RPG Vineyard Pinot Noir, the most elegant of them all! If you’re looking for an example of how a leaner, brighter wine gains complexity with age, this is it. For fans of nerdy wine talk, this wine was made with 30% whole clusters in the fermenter and a long maceration time. The result is a compelling mix of cherry, forest floor, and white pepper flavors and a tight, focused texture. A fascinating wine now, it gains complexity for several days after opening and will reward patience in the cellar. If you’ve tried our 2019 Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir, think of this as its older, brainier sibling.
